The University of Toledo was founded in 1872 as The Toledo
University of Arts and Trades. Over the years, UT has grown in size and scope
and is now considered the third largest public university in the University
System of Ohio. UT now offers hundreds of associate’s, bachelor’s, master’s and
doctoral degrees as well as certificates. In 2006, the Medical University of
Ohio merged with UT, and UT added not only the College of Medicine and Life
Sciences, but also the College of Nursing and Pharmacy on the Health Science
Campus. These colleges offer a broad
range of health science programs designed to prepare students for the important
and emerging healthcare 21st century workforce.
The College of Graduate Studies (COGS) places a great
importance on offering a quality graduate experience for our students by
providing excellent student service. With offices and programs on both UT’s
Main Campus and Health Science Campus, COGS is committed to the success of our
graduate students.
UT has 130 master’s programs and 40 doctoral programs. . In
addition to research Master’s and Ph.D. degrees, UT offers seven professional
doctorates (JD, MD, PharmD, DPT, OTD, DNP and DE) and 11 professional master’s
(MBA, EMBA, MME, MMP, MPA, MPH, MSA, MSN, MSW, PSM and Education Specialist). UT
also offers a variety of certificates in the healthcare, business and personal
enrichment areas.
