UT Graduate Researchers Receive Recognition

SISS Doctoral Student Selected For Graduate Research Award

UT Spatially-Integrated Social Science doctoral student, Jeffrey Eloff, was recently selected as a participant in the Graduate Research Award Program on Public-Sector Aviation Issues for the 2013-14 academic year. Jeff will receive a research stipend of $10,000 from the Federal Aviation Administration of the U.S. Department of Transportation.  He previously earned his MA in Economics here at UT and is now a research assistant in the SISS program.

UT Graduate Alumna Wins “Best Postgraduate Paper” at APhA

Monita Karmakar, a recent graduate of the Master’s program in Health Outcomes and Socioeconomic Sciences in the Colelge of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, recently won the award for “Best Postgraduate Paper” at the American Pharmacists Association annual meeting. Her paper on “Predicting Adherence to Aromatase Inhibitor Therapy in Patients with Breast Cancer Using Protection Motivation Theory” was one of 69 papers accepted for presentation in her category. The paper was a result of Monita’s thesis research and was completed under the advising of Dr. Sharrel Pinto. Monita is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in the Health and Recreation Professions department in the College of Health Sciences at UT.
